Indoor Air Quality

Keep your air clean and fresh with the most advanced air filtration system on the market

Today, many homeowners, like yourself, are concerned about improving indoor air quality, which is why we service and install AccuClean – the most advanced whole-home air filtration system on the market. Removing up to an unprecedented 99.98% of unwanted particles and allergens from filtered air – AccuClean is 8 times more effective than even the best HEPA room appliance and 100 times more effective than a standard throwaway filter.

In our homes and our businesses, we don’t really give much thought about the air we are breathing. We assume that since we are inside, the air we breathe is clean and fresh. However, indoor air is just as, or more, polluted than the air outdoors. This is due to chemical cleaners, pet dander, pollen, and other allergens and contaminants that are brought in from the outdoors or because your air conditioner unit has not been cleaned or maintained. If you are always sneezing, have headaches, have irritated eyes, or suffer from allergies and asthma, it could be because of indoor pollutants. Luckily, there is a way to remedy this and that is with indoor air quality. At Andrews Heating & Cooling, we are able to help homeowners and business owners get better indoor air quality in Rock Hill, SC for their homes and businesses.
Humidity

Humidity is a component we can easily grasp: We feel comfortable between 20 and 50% relative humidity. Below that we start to suffer from dry nose and throat, we experience more static electricity and others. Above the 50% rH mark we start to sweat and we experience a musky humid smell in the air, to name a few.

Typical Indoor Air Pollutants:
  • Mold and mildew pollutionMold and Mildew: The primary cause of mold in our homes is due to excess moisture in the air. Mold spores circulate through the indoor air we breath and will begin growth when enough moisture is present. Relative humidity (RH) over 60% is enough to promote mold growth.
  • Dust Mites: Dust mites are one of the largest causes of allergies in the home. Dust mites live and breed in our pillows, beds, carpets and upholstered furniture. A gram of house dust (approximately 1/2 teaspoon) contains as many as 1,000 dust mites. That same gram of dust contains over 250,000 of their fecal pellets. Dust mites die off when RH is below 50%.
  • Pollutants from animals and pet: pet danderAnimals: Pet Dander (dry skin flakes) is the main cause of pet allergies. Every time our favorite furry friend is petted, rubs against something or even just shakes himself pet dander is released into the air we breathe.
  • VOC air pollutionVOCs – Volatile Organic Compounds: Our daily routines effect the air we breathe more than we realize. VOC’s include cleaning products, pesticides (most come in from outside on our shoes), and personal care products just to name a few.
  • Other pollutants: Bacteria, Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
